Reflections On Phoenix II

Another race is in the can.

It’s been a few years now since Kurt Busch transformed himself into a gentleman. How long before Kyle makes that transition? I’m not so sure that he should. With a kinder, gentler Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick, that only leaves Kyle (and, to a much lesser degree, Hamlin and Montoya) to keep the pot boiling and add some pizzazz to the sport.

I’m sure glad I didn’t have to trek to the rattlesnake infested desert to witness a 2 1/2 hour event. Why 312 miles? I think I recall it used to be 500k. I don’t know. It’s still too short. (Unless it’s 95 degrees and you’re in the stands.)

It was another one of those races that presented the opportunity to focus on watching how the drivers maneuver their way around a racetrack and get a better sense of how talented they have to be to do it. Always on the edge and fighting for control – giving it all they can.

Good job by all.

If Ned were in the booth, we’d know what’s up with Rodney Combs.
