Barack Obama and Jimmie Johnson – what’s the connection? Well, ten years ago, if someone asked “Will anyone match (forget about surpassing) Cale’s 3 in a row?”, one response might have been: We’ll have a black president before that happens. Although you would have been correct, your mind was probably looking many decades past 2009.
A more logical answer may have been, if not Jeff Gordon, then nobody. Certainly not Jimmie Johnson who, up to that time had less than 2000 miles of seat time in Nascar. For whatever reason, many may never appreciate his accomplishments and abilities even if he surpasses the records of Pearson, Yarborough, Earnhardt, Waltrip and Gordon.
I don’t know about you, but I’m grateful to have witnessed not only the 4 in a row, but also the amazing continuation of the Kyle Busch Years Of Thunder.
