Crank It Up More

Back to last race.

So Fox got an Emmy for Best Live Event Audio for “Crank It Up”. Imagine. An award for racing sounds at a race. Isn’t “Crank It Up” just the volume turned up on the racing sounds and the volume muted on the announcers? I wish I could do that at home. I’d turn on MRN in a heartbeat, but Charlotte, the world center of Stock Car Racing, doesn’t have an MRN affiliate. And then there’s that evil 7 second delay that makes it impractical to listen to PRN when they have the race.

I haven’t heard any complaints about Sunday’s Anthem performance. Normally, when a singer adds his/her own touches that are “not the way it’s supposed to be sung”, there’s some criticism. Maybe we’ve moved on. Maybe only for a little while.

And finally, RIP Smokey’s “BEST DAMN GARAGE IN TOWN”, 4.25.11. (Fire)

5.9.71: BP’s 1st win – South Boston

5.10.73: DW’s 1st win – Nashville

If Ned were in the booth we’d know what’s up with Jimmy Horton. (Isn’t he the last driver to exit Talladega via the wall?)
